최후통첩(最後通牒)은 마지막으로 상대에게 문서로 알리는 것 혹은 법률적으로는 분쟁 당사국 가운데 한 국가가 국가 사이의 우호적인 관계를 단절하고, 최종적인 요구를 제시하여 일정한 기한 안에 그것이 수락되지 않으면 실력 행사를 하겠다는 뜻을 밝히는 일. 또는 그 뜻을 적은 외교 문서를 뜻한다.
영어로 최후통첩을 뜻하는 단어가 있기도 한데, 이는 “Ultimatum”이다.
